?The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) announced today the acquisition of CEO Academy, a high-level intensive learning and networking experience for CEOs. With the additional resources provided by the CEO Academy, SHRM will be able to provide a broader suite of tools and experiences to senior business executives, which will allow them to excel in the workplace and optimize the CEO-CHRO relationship.
CEO Academy offers two-day programs delivered in close partnership with the Wharton School and McKinsey. In its 22nd year, the program attracts some of the most successful chief executives and board leaders in the country to its comprehensive “learning and refresher” gatherings. Each program focuses on strategy, innovation, growth, finance, talent, compensation, succession, governance and other issues key to chief executives, emerging leaders and board leaders. The next event will be in New York City on Nov. 16-17, 2022.
“I am excited to welcome the CEO Academy to SHRM,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, SHRM president and chief executive officer. “This partnership and acquisition shows our deep commitment to leadership development by addressing the most critical issues facing new and established CEOs and others in the C-Suite of Fortune 500 companies. Through world-class executive leadership programming, we can empower great leaders together to create real change in the world of work.”
Founded by Dennis Carey in 1999, the CEO Academy has been cited by participating CEOs as the ” absolute best program anywhere for CEO preparation” and ” nothing compares to it for take home value and it’s no nonsense approach to value creation–even for long serving CEOs.”
“It is an exciting day for CEO Academy to begin this new phase in our growth as part of SHRM,” said Carey. “The academy is proud to bring 23 years of successful leadership preparing tomorrow’s CEOs for the C-Suite. I especially look forward to working with Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., one of the most innovative and thoughtful leaders in American business. SHRM’s expertise as a convener in thought leadership on issues impacting today’s evolving workplaces gives the academy an enviable platform to impact talented leaders today and in the future among SHRM’s global community.”
